YouTube just recently started hiding the number of dislikes on all videos on the platform. You can still dislike a video, but the feedback will be privately sent to the creator. The goal of the company is to reduce the potential harassment associated with targeted dislike attacks, but the move received universally negative reviews due to visible dislikes allowing users to immediately spot videos that are fraudulent, unhelpful, or generally low-quality. So, for the sake of the many years when this info was public, let’s not forget about the most disliked videos of all time.

Before we dive in, we wanted to stress out that the number of dislikes on a certain video largely depends on the popularity of the said video. Many people need to see it and decide that they don’t like it. Total dislikes: 6.78 million (dislike percentage: 40.55%)

“The Wheels on the Bus” is an American folk song written by Verna Hills (1898–1990). It was originally published in a 1939 issue of American Childhood, and in that version, each verse ended with “over the city streets” rather than the lyrics “all through the town”, which have become more common later. It is often sung by children on bus trips to keep themselves amused.

As the name suggests, this Russian video is about learning the colors. Kids might find it interesting, but if you play it, you will realize why it’s the 8th most disliked video on YouTube.

This is the second entry by Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes on this list. It’s another children’s song, this time about taking a bath. Popular and annoying at the same time.

6. “YouTube Rewind 2019: For the Record” by YouTube
Total dislikes: 9.58 million (dislike percentage: 73.28%)

“YouTube Rewind 2019: For the Record” (also known as YouTube Rewind 2019) was uploaded by YouTube on December 5, 2019, as the tenth and final part of the YouTube Rewind series. The video contains montages of the top videos and YouTubers of the year. Although marked as an improvement over the previous installment, the video received negative reviews, with critics and the general audience finding the video uncreative in comparison to past Rewind videos. “For the Record” amassed over 3.1 million dislikes within 24 hours of release and 5 million dislikes within 48 hours of release, more than those acquired by YouTube Rewind 2018 in the same timeframes. It currently has over 9.5 million dislikes.

5. “Johny Johny Yes Papa” by LooLoo Kids
Total dislikes: 11.74 million (dislike percentage: 40.62%)

“Johnny Johnny Yes Papa” is an English-language nursery rhyme. The song is about a child, Johnny, who is caught by his father eating sugar. A video containing the song was uploaded to YouTube by Loo Loo Kids in 2016 and at the time of writing it gather almost 6 billion views, making it the third-most-viewed video on the site, as well as the most-viewed nursery rhyme video and the fifth-most-disliked YouTube video.

4. “Baby” by Justin Bieber ft. Ludacris
Total dislikes: 12.45 million (dislike percentage: 38.68%)

“Baby” is a song by Canadian singer Justin Bieber, alongside American rapper Ludacris. It was released as the lead single on Bieber’s debut album, My World 2.0. Total dislikes: 13.66 (dislike percentage: 94.86%)

In August 2020, the trailer for the Indian movie Sadak 2 became the most disliked movie trailer on YouTube. In the first two days of the release, the trailer received 5.3 million dislikes. On August 18th, it surpassed Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and became the second most disliked video with 13.24 million dislikes.

“Baby Shark” is a children’s song and associated dance. Originating as a campfire song, “Baby Shark” became very well-known in 2016, when Pinkfong, a South Korean entertainment company, released a YouTube video featuring the song which went viral on social media, online video, and radio. In November 2020, Pinkfong’s version became the most-viewed YouTube video of all time, with over 9 billion views. It is also is the most disliked “made for kids” video.

“YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind” is the ninth installment of the YouTube Rewind series, which was released on December 6, 2018. The video included YouTubers and internet superstars like Ninja and Marques Brownlee, as well as celebrities like Will Smith and Trevor Noah, and prominently contained references to Fortnite Battle Royale. It’s the first video in the YouTube Rewind series to have both animated and live-action segments.

Critics, YouTubers, and fans alike blasted YouTube Rewind 2018, which was termed the worst YouTube Rewind video to date by critics, YouTubers, and viewers alike. Many prominent YouTubers of the year, such as Shane Dawson, Morgz, and PewDiePie, as well as popular rivalries such as KSI vs Logan Paul and PewDiePie vs T-Series, were left out of the video. “Friday” is a song performed by American singer Rebecca Black. Its music video caught a sudden surge of hits after Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax comedian Michael J. Nelson called it “the worst video ever made” on Twitter and the song was featured on the Tosh.0 blog. The song’s reception was highly negative because of its songwriting, instrumentation, Black’s vocals, and the video choreography, and it was parodied by numerous artists and comedians.

9. “ПОСОСИ” by Morgenshtern
Dislike percentage: 76.10% (total dislikes 2.58 million)

This is a song by Russian rapper Morgenshtern which translates to “Suck it” in English. In early June 2020, the singer announced that he would release his new track on June 5. His fans expected the artist would release “Cadillac”. So, when “Pososi” was released it started collecting dislikes on YouTube. On June 8, Morgenstern said that if the single overtakes the record holder for dislikes in Russia—Timati and Guf’s video for the song “Moscow” (Москва), he will release “Cadillac”. On the same day, the goal was achieved. The official music video for this track is currently the most disliked YouTube video in Russia.

8. “How It Is (Wap Bap …)” by BibisBeautyPalace
Dislike percentage: 84.58% (total dislikes 3.31 million)

“How It Is (Wap Bap …)” is a song by a German YouTuber Bianca Heinicke, better known as “Bibi H.” from the YouTube channel “BibisBeautyPalace”. The song is sung in English and it was released on May 5, 2017, by the record label Warner Music Germany. The corresponding music video is the most disliked video from any German YouTube channel. Upon its release, the song was met with generally negative reviews from contemporary music critics. The main points of criticism were the lyrics, the voice, and pronunciation of the singer, as well as the use of Auto-Tune. The song and the video also attracted mockery by other content creators who satirized it.

7. “Aaja Beta Carry Teko Roast Sikhaye!” by Kunal Kamra
Dislike percentage: 85.61% (total dislikes 2.51 million)

Here we can see Indian stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has poked fun at YouTuber Ajey Nagar who goes by the name CarryMinati and the kind of videos he makes. Kunal states that Carry is the opposite of intellectual and that all he does is yell slurs at the top of the voice in the name of roasting. 6. “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Reveal Trailer” by Call of Duty
Dislike percentage: 85.98% (total dislikes 3.96 million)

Upon release of the initial trailer, the game was heavily criticized by the community for being too futuristic. The consensus held was that this had stemmed from frustration with the current direction of the franchise, as consecutive installments released in the past few years had been set in future settings and narratives. Despite its pre-release criticism, Infinite Warfare was named Best Shooter at E3 by Game Informer. At the 2016 Game Critics Awards for the best of E3, the game was nominated for Best Action Game, but lost to rival game Battlefield 1.

5. “Mr. Faisu’s Exploring Shillong” by Faisal Shaikh
Dislike percentage: 86.35% (total dislikes 3.82 million)

This was the first YouTube video by Indian celebrity Mr. Faisu, who was previously famous for his TikTok videos. He was basically caught in the “war” between YouTubers and TikTokers and angered many people by switching platforms. They started massively disliking his videos, especially this one where he explores Shillong.

“Cuties” is a 2020 French coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré in her feature directorial debut. The plot revolves around a Senegalese-French girl with a traditional Muslim upbringing who is caught between traditional values and Internet culture when she joins a twerking dance crew.

The filmmakers claimed that it is intended to criticize the hypersexualization of pre-adolescent girls. While receiving generally positive reviews from critics for its ambition and acting, the movie became a subject of controversy, starting from Netflix’s initial promotional poster that was widely considered inappropriate. The film received overwhelming criticism following its release on Netflix and cases of review bombs and subscription cancellations surged, popularised by the hashtag #CancelNetflix. Netflix has defended the film.
